Sam Newman

Samuel Newman was born and raised in the Midwest until he studied sculpture at Alfred University in upstate New York State. Major factors in his early development include playing in an algae-filled creek, falling off of a bicycle, and his father tricking him into believing that electricity can come out of the human armpit. He is currently exploring the shifting character of Detroit, Michigan. »website


Melissa Miles

Melissa Miles, Organizer for the Eastern PA Permaculture Guild, is an Environmental Biologist + Conservation Planner, Permaculture Designer/Teacher and Consultant. She has studied Biogeochemistry, Green Building and Sustainable Design at the graduate level and has served as Organizer for the Eastern Pennsylvania Permaculture Guild. Additionally, Melissa manages The Permanent Futures Institute at Two Miles Micro-Farm -- a peri-urban, micro-farm and regenerative design and training center located in south eastern Pennsylvania. Melissa is a contributing author for The Permaculture Research Institute in Austrailia and writes on the subject of Sustainable Agriculture for the Philadelphia Examiner.


Kyle Siranno

Kyle Sirianno currently works as an assistant geoscientist with Tetra Tech EC, an environmental consulting firm specializing in remediation of hazardous waste. Before Joining Tetra Tech, Kyle worked as the Samuel Fels Intern for the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society as a soil scientist. Kyle received his M.Sc. at Penn in Environmental Chemistry in 2009.

Tim Bennett is the owner of Bennet Compost. Bennett Compost collects compostable materials from households and businesses in Philadelphia and creates high quality compost for use in home gardens


Cosmic Kitchen

Founded in 2000 by Executive Chef and owner Peg Botto, Cosmic Catering is a full service catering company that believes in only using locally made and grown products. Chef Peg is a Philadelphia native who graduated with a Bachelor's of Finance from the University of West Florida and attended the Philadelphia Restaurant School. She is a member of the Sustainable Business Network and donates her time and energy to maintaining a sustainable green business.
