Home
Location of recording:
Errington Woods, England

From the Artists:
'Home' was recorded at Errington Woods, near New Marske on the North East Coast of England at around 19:13 hours. Besides an overgrown bike track, off the beaten path, it is possible to glimpse the sprawling expanse of industry that is Teesside from the foothills of Marske to as far as Newcastle to the North on a clear evening such as this. The steel and petrochemical works (just audible as a constant hum in the recording) can never be shut down for fear of collapse, and it is these contrasting synthetic and organic landscapes that coexist to form 'Home'.

Urban Rural Noise Conflict
Location of recording:
Burlinton, North Carolina, USA

From the Artists:
Do we have an ideal of what a forest sounds like? Peaceful and quiet where we can escape the urban noise? Even in a deep rural environment the urban noise attempts to gain control. The aural detritus of everyday life becomes harder and harder to ignore.

The Wind in Your Mind
Location of recording:
New York City, NY, USA

From the Artists:
In the city our connection to the natural world lies in our creativity. In essence, it is a form of believing and of faith that we are part of nature. This piece is compiled from found-sounds in hopes of creating a feeling of this inner experience of nature that travels with us as we move through the urban landscape.

Peace Park
Location of recording:
Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, Alberta, Canada

From the Artists:
Spanning territories both in the United States of America and Canada, Waterton-Glacier is the only park in the world to be declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an International Peace Park, and a Biosphere Reserve. This piece was recorded on a particularly windy day, situated near a rapidly flowing river. The cacophony of natural sounds, paired with dissonant airline traffic looming overhead presents an ominous vision in a reserve dedicated to peaceful coexistence.
