Project Description:
The painting proposals use the zoning map for the development of the Former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro and apply the color schemes used by tract housing builders Warmington Homes in their Somerset Creekside development in Valencia, 30 miles north of Los Angeles. Proposed land uses are grouped into 9 categories ranging from retail to residential to public open space. These 9 categories are assigned a color designation from a Warmington Homes scheme - for example drainage areas on the map are colored with the shade designated for the stucco in the color scheme, residential areas are coloured with the shade designated for the siding, and so on. The system is trialed here in 3 of the 9 colour schemes offered for in the Somerset tract housing development.
