Mel and the Cell is a Flash prototype for an e-learning module designed to help kids grades K-6 learn about cellular biology.

In it, kids help Mel, an alien, who has been shrunk down to microscopic proportions after his spaceship is sucked into a vortex. He finds himself trapped inside a human being, and needs to learn about the cell in order to repair his ship, return to normal size, and get back home.

The prototype was user tested at the elementary school in East Palo Alto as part of development. The kids really liked Mel.
