Fair Milwaukee is an interactive art piece built using Max/MSP/Jitter and controlled with a WingMan video game controller. It is inspired by my yearly trek to the midwest to help my father at the Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee Milwaukee is very boring. Even the carnival rides, which I am fascinated by, get old after a couple weeks. I tried to capture that sense of malaise in this piece.

I took several pictures from the carnival, pixilated them, and plugged them into a Max patch. When the cursor is moved over a pixel, the RGB value is picked up and used to drive several oscillators and phasors. The other joystick handle is used to filter the sound. The result is pretty eerie, not unlike most of the midwest.

Here's the Max/MSP/Jitter patch.
